eBes

"Following the success of ebXML, a new CEN/ISSS Workshop has been established, which is the merger of EBES and the XML/EDI Workshop. The major objective of the new Workshop, which is called eBES (e-business Board for European Standardization), is to create within Europe a central point focusing on the latest technologies used for the exchange of electronic business data. eBES will represent the European point of view in the global debate, including on the need for a multi-lingual and multi-cultural approach to B2B data interchange standardization. This central focal point will provide information about new standardized technologies in this field, will foster their use, will participate in or provide input to the global processes defined by ebXML, OASIS and UN/CEFACT. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role SMEs can play, without neglecting the large enterprises who already made huge investments in eCommerce and want to exploit these further. ebXML is a major step forward...eBES is dedicated to show companies in Europe the benefits of ebXML."

Dick Raman
Chairman
CEN/ISSS eBES Workshop

e centreUK

"e centreUK believes that ebXML offers the business world the best chance of avoiding the standards complexity and inconsistencies that have dogged EDI. All businesses should ensure that their development teams are tracking ebXML standard specifications and should insist that migration to ebXML is included in the requirements of their XML projects."

David Weatherby
Director of Marketing
e centreUK

Korea Institute for Electronic Commerce

"Established pursuant to Article 23 of the Basic Law on Electronic Commerce, KIEC (Korea Institute for Electronic Commerce) is a competent organization in charge of electronic commerce promotion and standardization in Korea. On the basis of its extensive contribution to dissemination and adoption of EDI, KIEC continues its duty of promoting eCommerce/eBusiness in Korea, in the Asian region, and in the world. As the entry point of ebXML standardization in Korea, KIEC fully endorses the ebXML Initiative. For the promotion of ebXML, KIEC does the following works: Korea ebXML National Central Registry and Repository; Korea ebXML Standardization Website; Translation of ebXML Technical Specifications into Korean; Quarterly ebXML Workshop; Active Participation in ebXML Initiative Meetings; Korea ebXML Standardization Committee; Publication of Korean ebXML White Paper; and the Joint Operation of ebXML Asia Committee. KIEC will continue its efforts to create a single global electronic market until it is realized."

Deuk Jin Jung
President
Korea Institute for Electronic Commerce

Open Applications Group

"The Open Applications Group enthusiastically supports ebXML and is taking several steps forward to adopt and converge it with their own body of work. OAGI is able to do this because of their technology neutral architecture and approach. The Open Applications Group will support the ebXML transport layer, TRP, as an "envelope" for transmitting their 182+ OAGIS XML payloads. OAGIS will also support the CPP and CPA for collaboration protocol profiles and agreements. The ebXML BPSS will be populated with the many business collaborations already defined by the OAGI as well as all new business collaborations under development or planned. The OAGI will also work with the Core Components team to be good citizens. OAGI will work towards convergence with the core components effort by initially adopting the ebXML naming conventions for XML tags and by cross-referencing OAGIS XML tags to the UID in the core components specification."

David M. Connelly
President and CEO
Open Applications Group, Inc.

Open Travel Alliance

"At the Annual Advisory Forum meeting of May 14, 2001, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, the OTA Architecture team agreed that the ebXML Message Handling Service met all of OTA's architectural requirements. The Architecture team agreed to standardize on ebXML as a recommended "reference" envelope layer. OTA's next publication, anticipated for release in November 2001, will include an explanation of how OTA applications would use ebXML Message Handling Services, along with reference implementations provided by OTA member companies."

Ron Kleinman
Co-Chair OTA Architecture Team
Open Travel Alliance

RosettaNet

"RosettaNet plans to integrate support for the ebXML Messaging Services Specification in future releases of RosettaNet's Implementation Framework (RNIF). While RosettaNet remains committed to developing business process standards required to support the complex needs of the high-technology industry, we also want to ensure interoperability across all supply chains. To that end, we see tremendous value in ensuring our vertical supply chain standards are supported by a horizontal, universally accepted messaging service, such as the one from the ebXML initiative."

Jennifer Hamilton
CEO
RosettaNet

Tradegate ECA

"As the organisation in Australia vested with the responsibility of providing liaison with UN/CEFACT and its Working Groups, Tradegate ECA is very pleased to herald the successful conclusion of the ebXML Initiative sponsored by UN/CEFACT and OASIS. SMEs in Australia have long sought appropriate technology to enable them to participate in the benefits which electronic business currently provides to the larger organisations using traditional EDI. Conversely the larger organisations have also awaited technology to enable them to trade electronically with their smaller suppliers and thus more fully reap the benefits which come from efficient systems. ebXML delivers the appropriate technology to allow SME participation in electronic business. Tradegate ECA which has a mission to 'promote and provide practical electronic commerce services for Australian communities with similar business needs' sees ebXML as an integral part of the electronic business landscape and is working to ensure its uptake by the Australian business community."

Bind Systems

"The ebXML initiative has delivered a comprehensive set of specifications that enable vendors such as ourselves to deliver solutions that meet the stringent demands necessary for secure, yet open, collaborative electronic computing. We see ebXML as a pivotal component enabling the delivery of 'business ready' web services, particularly through its support for electronically enforceable partner agreements. These agreements define both business and technology critical parameters that can then be used to govern electronic interaction between partners. It is for these reasons, among many, that ebXML plays a central role in our BindPartner Business Collaboration Platform. Overall, an excellent achievement by the teams involved."

David Russell
CTO
Bind Systems

Care Data Systems

"We see the ebXML standards as a sound basis for multi-entity integration that is fully dynamic, yet secure, manageable and flexible. Therefore as we develop our tool set for zero-coding massive-scale multi-entity integration of person-centric data, we consider ebXML support be way more than a 'cost of doing business' but rather a key enabler of excellent and responsible 'consumer-centric' B2B."

Jon Farme
Principal, LuoSys, Inc.
Division of Care Data Systems

Commerce One

"Commerce One is one of the founding participants of ebXML and contributed by co-authoring several ebXML specifications and technical reports. The company endorses the importance of ebXML in enabling electronic commerce and intends to implement ebXML support into its products. Commerce One plans to offer an ebXML gateway into MarketSite(tm), the e-marketplace operating environment. This ebXML gateway will allow trading partners and endpoint applications to connect to e-marketplaces via ebXML Transport Routing and Packaging specification version 1.0. We also plan to support ebXML Business Process specifications, ebXML Core Components specifications and the ebXML Registry/Repository specifications as they mature. Support for these specifications enables connectivity to Commerce One's e-marketplace platform via the open standard that ebXML represents."

Mary Loomis
Senior Vice President, Engineering,
Commerce One

Data Access Technologies

"We at Data Access Technologies are excited about ebXML and what it represents for users and the industry. ebXML represents the maturing of internet computing as it becomes mainstream technology and a part of the fabric of international commerce. It will allow people, systems, companies and governments to work together more easily, making business more effective and flexible. Due to such open standards, systems and tools will be more available and more compatible. In support of ebXML Data Access Technologies has announced that we will provide full ebXML support in our Component-X platform. Component-X provides a simple, standards-based approach to the drag-and-drop assembly of XML-Java components for web services. It can support a variety of technologies such as ebXML, HTTP, Soap, Corba, J2EE, JMS, MQ-Series, SQL, XSL and other technologies. ebXML support will include both design time and runtime integration."

Cory B. Casanave
President
Data Access Technologies

Documentum

"At Documentum, we recognize that content management is the cornerstone of e-business and plays a critical role in a company's competitive edge. Our vision is to extend content management beyond the boundaries of any single enterprise and to support global collaboration between all trading partners. XML plays an integral role in helping create, manage, personalize, and deliver e-business content through multiple channels. XML content management allows companies to more effectively engage in e-business through content reuse, separation of format from content, platform-neutral interchange, transformation, and multi-channel publishing. The strength of the Documentum 4i eBusiness Platform is in meeting the criteria set forth by this emerging standard. For B2B to be successful, standardization efforts like ebXML are critical to ensure interoperability between trading partners. We look forward to our continued participation in the development of e-business standards through our involvement with OASIS and the ebXML initiative."

Howard Shao,
Chief Technology Officer
Documentum

"Schemantix has been actively involved in ebXML from the very beginning, and we continue to see this important standard as a linchpin to our vision of dynamic plug-and-play ebusiness. Our strategy of developing connectivity and business process automation software to enable document-centric, XML-based business transactions is compatible with the model proposed by the ebXML standard. Our ability to model business processes dynamically using XML schemas, as demonstrated in the recent ebXML Proof-of-Concept in Vienna, enables us to support the ebXML Business Process specifications and ebXML Core Components specifications in the upcoming release of the Schemantix Marketplace Connector. Our committment to the ebXML initiative remains unequivocal, as does our intention to provide software tools that support this effort."

Daniel Backhaus
Chief Marketing Officer

Sterling Commerce

"Sterling Commerce believes that ebXML is emerging as the cornerstone of collaborative commerce and we are committed to supporting the standard. Sterling has been a major contributor to the ebXML initiative, bringing years of e-business implementation experience to the transport/routing and packaging, registry and repository, and trading partner working groups and developing proof-of-concept demonstrations for the ebXML messaging and registry/repository services. We believe many of our customers will find ebXML an essential bridge for integrating proven EDI and other legacy e-commerce infrastructures with emerging XML-based technologies. We also believe ebXML will unleash a major next wave of automated business processing by enabling the choreography of complex business sequences across organizational boundaries. The Vienna POC, which demonstrated the use of ebXML to accommodate multiple B2B standards (XML, EDI, Rosettanet, and SWIFT) within a single scenario, gave a preview of the kinds of integration challenges that savvy organizations will increasingly pursue."

Sam Starr
Executive Vice President, Global Development
Sterling Commerce

TIE Holding NV

"Since TIE came up with the slogan 'EDI is the Backbone of Electronic Commerce' in 1995 many things have happened. ebXML has made this slogan a reality. It took hard work and a lot of convincing, but with ebXML the world has a chance to really engage in electronic business in a way that builds on the experiences of the past while using modern technology. For TIE the major task is to let its customers benefit from ebXML. TIE is dedicated to ebXML and will continue to provide its customers with the software tools and expertise to let them follow the path ebXML is showing us."

Dick Raman
President & CEO
TIE Holding NV - The Netherlands

Viquity

"Viquity Corporation has been instrumental in the development and promotion of the ebXML standard from the start, through active participation on its project teams, and specifically through the leadership role that it has played in ebXML's Proof-of-Concept activities. Viquity will provide support for ebXML in an upcoming release of the Viquity Managed Connectivity Service. This will allow ebXML-compliant trading partners to seamlessly communicate with partners that may use other protocols or document formats. Particularly appealing is ebXML's enablement of B2B commerce by small- and medium-size enterprises, as well as large ones. The fact that the ebXML standard is industry-neutral will also facilitate its adoption by a variety of industry verticals."
